A Hope Built Out From a Logo

Narendra Modi, the prime minister, just announced the website, theme, and logo for India's G20 presidency. India's national flag colours served as the inspiration for the G20 logo's colour scheme. The lotus, India's national flower, and the planet Earth are placed side by side. Below the G20 logo is the word "Bharat" written in the Devanagari script. Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which translates to "One Earth, One Family, One Future," is the motto of India's G20 presidency and was inspired by Maha Upanishad. Vasudha (Earth), Iva (Is), and Kutumbakam are mentioned (family). One of the Upanishad's shlokas, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, states that only the narrow-minded may claim, "This individual is mine, and this one is not." For those who behave honourably, the universe is one big family (those who realise the Supreme Truth). The logo and theme create a compelling narrative for India's G20 Presidency, which aims to fight for just and equitable progress for all people worldwide. It reaffirms the basic idea of Indian or Hindu philosophy, which encourages an inclusive culture. However, the phrase Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam has been used in a logo before. It has previously been used by several initiatives and associations, including the World Economic Forum's Project VK, a Covid relief initiative, the Land Ports Authority of India, the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Education Summit 2022, and the World Constitution and Parliament Association (WCPA), to define their inclusive approach.
